It’s not your fault!
(it’s your tee)

Believe it or not, tee height can indeed make a significant difference when it comes to slicing. Yes, it’s true that one of the keys to longer drives is a high tee, but a high tee also tends to promote more sidespin and crooked shots. The reason for this is the more severe, upward swingpath that a high tee promotes. Instead, try lowering your tee height. This is a trick the pros use when they absolutely need to get a drive in the fairway. If you’re a chronic slicer off the tee, it’s a good tip for you.

Coping with uneven lies
Adjustments must be made to accommodate for uneven lies. The terrain will affect impact position, but prepareations should be made at address, not during the swing.

If the ball is above your feet:

  • Stand taller at address.
  • Flex your knees a little less.
  • Choke down slightly on the club.
  • Choose one club less than you would normally hit from that distance.
  • Align your body and the clubface to the right of the target.
  • Keep your weight on the balls of your feet.

If the ball is below your feet:

  • Flex your knees more at address.
  • Bend more from the hips.
  • Hold the club at the end of the grip.
  • Widen your stance slightly.
  • Use one more club than you normally would from that distance.
  • Align your body and the clubface to the left of the target.
  • Maintain your knee flex throughout the swing.
